Lend-A-Hand India is working in education
sector for the past five years. Our vision is “To make a difference in the
lives of the poor through self-help programs that create economic opportunities
for today and well-being for a lifetime.”
Lend-A-Hand India endeavors to achieve its vision by undertaking multiple
programs and projects that address two daunting challenges – youth unemployment
and urban migration. Our program strategy is to identify successful and
sustainable solutions developed at the grass roots organizations and scale them
up. This approach is also a conscious choice in recognition of India’s
population challenge and the need to reach large numbers with workable
solutions.
Our flagship program ‘job and life skills’ for secondary school students from
rural India reaches to over 60 schools covering about 8,000 students from
Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa states. In Maharashtra the program is titled
PLAN 100 and elsewhere it is known as SWADHEEN.
This unique model of ‘job and life skills’ has evolved after 12 years of
sustained grassroots efforts by NGO
Vigyan Ashram, Pabal.
Recognizing the significance and success of the program demonstrated through a
specially carried out survey of 300 alumni of the program, Lend-A-Hand India
selected the module for scaling up and replication.
